Asilikos New Mineral Blasting Abrasive

Asilikos New is a mineral, environmentally conscious disposable blasting abrasive designed for reliable surface preparation across a wide range of industrial applications. It is made from a blend of synthetic aluminium silicate from boiler slag and natural aluminium silicate from volcanic lava, combining consistent performance with versatile usability.

Manufactured in Lünen, Germany, Asilikos New is produced in standard grain sizes according to ISO 11126-4 and ISO 11126-11. It also meets the requirements of DGUV 100-500, Chapter 2.24 for blasting work.

Applications by Grain Size

Fine Grain Sizes

Fine grades are ideal for blasting wood, where the surface structure should remain clearly visible. They are also suitable for sweeping steel components to remove loose paint or flash rust, preparing galvanized surfaces for subsequent coatings, working on stable body panels and thin profiles, and cleaning concrete surfaces as well as hard natural stone such as granite or basalt.

Medium Grain Sizes

Medium grades are recommended for sheets and profiles up to approximately 3 mm thick, including truck frames and side panels. They are also suitable for cleaning concrete and hard natural stone, as well as blasting and derusting steel components and steel structures such as tank wagons, rail wagons and containers. Medium grades can also be used to remove coatings from concrete and plaster surfaces before recoating.

Coarse Grain Sizes

Coarse grades are used for blasting and derusting heavily coated or severely corroded steel components and steel structures. They are particularly suitable for concrete blasting, exposing reinforcement steel and blasting power plant boilers.
