Battery pressure regulator
The type 490 battery pressure regulator is a regulator with a second connection: it can be lined up into regulator batteries without a separate supply line for each outlet. Control ranges 0.5–6, 0.5–10 and 0.5–16 bar at a maximum operating pressure of 25 bar, sizes 20 to 50.
How the type 490 battery regulator works
Technically the control part corresponds to the type 481: diaphragm control, relieving, setting by handwheel, optionally lockable. The difference is in the body – next to the main connection there is a second connection (G ¼ or G ½) through which the regulators are linked in a row. Each regulator takes from the shared inlet pressure and sets its own secondary pressure. At p₁ = 10 bar, p₂ = 6 bar and 1 bar pressure drop the flow is between 1,957 and 7,394 l/min.
Choosing the right battery regulator
The battery design pays off as soon as one station needs several different pressures – clamping, blowing and feed on the same machine, for example. Besides control range and size, the second connection has to be chosen: G ¼ or G ½, to match the row. Gauges optionally with colour marking, Ø 40 or Ø 50, display ranges 0–10, 0–16 and 0–25 bar. Mounting position is free.

Frequently asked questions
How many regulators can be lined up?
The limit is not mechanical but the volume flow: all regulators in the row share the inlet pressure through the same cross-section. Add up the simultaneous demands and compare them with the flow figure of the size.
Do the regulators influence each other?
With simultaneous high demand the shared inlet pressure falls and all regulators see it. As long as the inlet pressure stays well above the highest set point, the effect is negligible.
Can I put a type 481 into a battery?
No – the type 481 has no second connection. The type 490 is intended for row mounting.
