Datasensing Safety Technology
Datasensing is an Italian manufacturer of industrial sensors; this category contains the safety part of its range. Safety light curtains to type 2 and type 4
Light curtains safeguard access points and danger zones without contact. The SG2 BASE is a type 2 light curtain for applications with lower risk, while the SG4 BASE meets type 4 with basic functions. In the newer SH4 series, the SH4 BASE is a type 4 version with automatic restart, available with 14 mm resolution for finger protection or 30 mm for hand protection. Safety laser scanners
Where an area rather than a line has to be monitored, for example in front of robot cells or on automated guided vehicles, safety laser scanners are the better choice. Datasensing offers the Laser Sentinel, Laser Sentinel EVO and SLS10 series here. The SLS10 monitors a protective field of up to 10 m with a scanning angle of 275 degrees and is designed to SIL 2 and PL d; selected models switch their protective fields under encoder control.
Safety sensors, evaluation and accessories
The range is completed by safety sensors of the S300-SG, S5/SL5 and SH/TH series. The signals of the protective devices are evaluated by safety control units such as SBCR03 and SG-BWS. The accessories include brackets, deflection mirrors, protective housings up to IP69K, alignment aids and connection cables.
Lidar, encoders and machine vision
Not every product in this branch is a protective device itself. The LIDAR sensors are used for navigation and collision avoidance of automated guided vehicles, the encoders – absolute, incremental and special designs – record position and speed, and machine vision contains cameras, smart cameras and vision processors. They complement the automation around the protective device; whether a device is safety-rated is stated in its data sheet.
Selection and safety distance
The resolution of a light curtain depends on the body part to be protected – finger, hand or body – and the type on the performance level determined in the risk assessment. How far the protective device must be from the danger zone results from the machine's stopping time, the response time and the resolution according to EN ISO 13855. We help you choose variant, protective height and accessories; validation of the safety function remains with the machine builder.
