Turck fieldbus technology
The question at the start of any I/O planning is not which bus, but where the signals are collected: outside on the machine or inside the control cabinet. Protection class, design and wiring effort all follow from that, and this section is sorted accordingly. We list 552 Turck items in three categories – compact modules for the field, modular systems for the cabinet and the bus components of process automation. The level sits under Turck control technology in the control technology section.
Outside: I/O modules in IP67
The IP67 I/O modules (304 items) sit directly on the machine. Each sensor is plugged in close by instead of being run back to the cabinet – saving cable, terminals and installation time, but calling for a tight housing. Turck supplies IP67, and IP69K on many types for high-pressure cleaning. The TBEN compact stations speak PROFINET, EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP in the same device: one item covers three bus systems, which noticeably simplifies stocking. 43 modules carry ARGEE logic and handle small control tasks without a PLC.
Inside: modular systems in IP20
In the cabinet it is divisibility that counts, not tightness. The IP20 I/O systems (158 items) consist of a gateway and clipped-on slice modules, one per signal group – a station can be tailored exactly and extended later. A faulty module is replaced with the wiring in place, the terminals stay plugged in. BL20 comes with screw and tension clamp connection; excom is the counterpart for the process industry and may stand in zone 2 with intrinsically safe modules while the sensors hang in zone 1.
Two-wire bus: PROFIBUS-PA and FOUNDATION fieldbus
In process automation a single two-wire line powers the field devices and carries the measured values at the same time – in the hazardous area. The trunk needs distributors for this. The bus components (90 items) comprise passive distributors and active ones that additionally limit the current of each spur. That is not a comfort feature: without limiting, a short circuit at a single field device shuts down the whole segment, and one segment often carries a complete sub-plant. 45 items are approved for zone 1.
What connects the two
Whether IP67 or IP20 – the signals come from the same sources: Turck sensors with photoelectric sensors and encoders, plus signal lights for feedback. If the signals come out of the hazardous area or are transmitted in analog form, interface technology comes before the fieldbus. For sizing the order is: signal type and channel count first, then protocol, design last.
What you get from us
Around 40,000 Turck items can be sourced through the catalogue, including those not listed here. Gateways, terminating resistors, sealing caps and connection cables are supplied to match on request – with I/O stations in particular, the accessories decide whether a delivery is complete. Every item carries an ident number and a meaningful type designation, which lets us find a special version too.
