Balluff

Balluff is a sensor and automation specialist based in Neuhausen auf den Fildern, founded in 1921 and still a family business in its fourth generation. We list more than 10,200 Balluff items – from the inductive standard sensor in an M8 thread to the ready-made connecting cable. The entire sensor branch of our shop consists of Balluff products.

Inductive and capacitive sensors

The largest part of the Balluff sensor range is made up of around 1,660 inductive sensors: standard sensors in the usual threaded and rectangular housings, factor 1 sensors with the same switching distance on steel and aluminium, all-metal versions for harsh environments, plus weld-immune, magnetic-field-immune, temperature-resistant and high-pressure-resistant variants as well as NAMUR types for hazardous areas. Around 200 capacitive sensors complete the picture for object detection and level measurement, with and without media contact. When selecting a replacement, switching distance, housing, flush mounting and connection type decide whether a sensor can be swapped one for one.

Photoelectronic sensors

Around 1,090 photoelectronic sensors cover optical detection: diffuse sensors with and without background suppression, retro-reflective, through-beam, angle and frame light barriers, fork sensors in metal or plastic housings, light grids and light bands for area monitoring. Colour, contrast and luminescence sensors, distance sensors and fibre-optic amplifiers with the matching plastic and glass fibre range round off the programme. These light grids are automation components and not safety devices.

Magnetic field, position and ultrasonic measurement

For wear-free piston position sensing on pneumatic cylinders we stock around 700 magnetic field sensors for T-slot, C-slot, dovetail slot, round and tie-rod cylinders, some with adjustable switching points or as a single-connector version with two sensors. Where an absolute position is required, the magnetically coded linear and angle measuring systems with the matching tape take over. For longer ranges and difficult surfaces there are ultrasonic sensors with digital or analogue output, and for attitude monitoring tilt sensors with one or two measuring axes.

Cam switches and pressure sensors

Almost 1,000 cam switches cover mechanical end-position and position sensing: single and multiple position switches, versions with positive opening, with safety switching points, with interchangeable strips and for elevated temperatures, plus inductive position switches. Around 170 pressure sensors complete the range – with display, without display and in a flush design for applications with no dead space.

Connection technology

With more than 5,100 items, connection technology is by far the largest block: ready-made connecting and extension cables in the common connector styles and lengths, bulk cable for your own assembly, and Y-splitters. When replacing a cable, check the number of poles, the coding, the jacket material and whether the cable is rated for fixed or flexible installation – that decides its service life in a drag chain.
