Leuze
Leuze has been developing sensor technology for industrial automation for more than 60 years – a family-owned company from Owen in southern Germany with over 1,300 employees worldwide that calls itself "The Sensor People". Our shop lists 2,346 Leuze items, from the plain photoelectric sensor to the light curtain for area monitoring. The complete branch is gathered under Leuze sensors.
Photoelectric sensors
Around 895 optical sensors form the largest block: through-beam sensors for long ranges and harsh conditions, retro-reflective sensors as standard versions with LED or laser, plus designs made specifically for transparent or for highly reflective objects. Those two cases – glass, film and PET bottles on one side, bare sheet metal and mirrored packaging on the other – are exactly where standard devices fail. Versions for hazardous areas are available as well. Range, light type, housing shape and connection type decide the choice.
Light curtains and area monitoring
297 light curtains cover area-wide detection, in slim and standard housings and as a retro-reflective version in which emitter and receiver sit on one side and only a reflector faces them. Typical tasks are presence and overhang control, height and contour measurement, and counting or measuring objects on a conveyor. These devices are automation components, not safety components – protecting people requires separately certified safety light curtains.
Inductive and capacitive proximity switches
246 inductive sensors handle contactless detection of metal objects, split into advanced versions and special sensors for jobs a standard device cannot solve. 94 capacitive sensors extend the range wherever plastic, glass, liquid or bulk material has to be detected – including through a non-metallic vessel wall. When replacing an existing device, switching distance, flush or non-flush mounting, threaded or block housing and connection type decide whether a one-to-one swap works.
Measuring sensors
Where a switching signal is not enough, 184 optical distance sensors return a measured value: high-resolution distance sensors as well as laser positioning systems for approaching defined positions on storage and retrieval machines and gantries. For tight installation spaces, high temperatures or areas with strong electromagnetic fields we list 149 fiber-optic sensors – plastic and glass fiber light guides with the matching amplifiers. The amplifier stays in the control cabinet; only the passive light guide sits in the process.
Tight spaces and label detection
115 fork sensors combine emitter and receiver in one housing and therefore need neither alignment nor a reflector on the opposite side. In the shop they are separated by purpose: object detection for small parts, bores and stops on one side, label detection on the other. The latter picks up the edge of a label on the backing web and is the standard answer on labelling machines – an application that regularly causes missed cycles without a dedicated sensor.
