Gemue 417 Manually operated butterfly valve
The Gemue 417 is a centric, manually operated butterfly valve with a valve body made of PVC-U. It is the hand-operated sister of the pneumatic Gemue 410 and, among the Gemue butterfly valves, the choice for plastic pipework that is shut off by hand – for example in water treatment, in electroplating and pickling plants or with acidic and alkaline media. Hand lever with locking device
The hand lever is ergonomically shaped, corrosion resistant and made of plastic – so it will not rust even where splash water with acid or alkali is involved. An integrated locking device secures the valve against accidental operation. The shaft is a diagonal square, 8 mm across flats; a later conversion to an actuator is therefore not ruled out but a question of the right mounting kit.
Why plastic instead of stainless steel
PVC-U resists many acids, alkalis and salt solutions to which stainless steel reacts with pitting or stress corrosion cracking. Add to that the considerably lower weight, which is noticeable for the pipe supports on a plastic line. If the same manually operated valve is needed in stainless steel, the Gemue 411 is the equivalent.
Nominal sizes, connections and sealing materials
The series covers DN 15 to DN 50. Connection is by union end with insert, in six versions: as a solvent cement socket to DIN or in inches to BS, as a socket to JIS, as an Rp threaded socket to DIN, and for butt welding and IR butt welding. Available liner materials are EPDM and FPM – EPDM for water, alkalis and many aqueous media, FPM for oils, greases and oxidising acids.
Configuration, advice and spare parts
Nominal size, connection type, liner material and insert version together make up the part number – which is where the 63 variants come from. Some versions are additionally cleaned for paint compatibility and sealed in film, as required in painting and coating plants. For a replacement, the existing Gemue part number is enough for us; if a variant is not in the grid, just ask – we clarify the configuration with the factory.
