The Gemue 1300 is the plastic optical position indicator with transparent cap for pneumatically operated globe and diaphragm valves. Why a purely optical indicator
In a plant with many valves the question "is that one open?" comes up daily – on a walk-round, during fault-finding, before opening a vessel. An electrical feedback unit answers it in the control room but not locally at the valve. The optical indicator does exactly that: a coloured indicator in the transparent cap follows the spindle and can be read from several metres away. It does not fail because there is nothing in it to fail.
Transparent cap instead of an open indicator
The cap encloses the indicator against dust, splash water and cleaning agents. That is the difference from a plain mark on the spindle, which becomes unreadable after a short time in a wet or dusty environment. For higher temperatures and aggressive cleaning chemistry there is the PSU transparent cap instead of the standard version.
How it differs from stroke limiters and feedback units
The 1300 only indicates. If the opening stroke is to be limited mechanically as well, the Gemue 1110 (with transparent cap) or the Gemue 1161 (with cap and integral indicator) are the right choice. If the position is to be reported electrically to a control system, the route is a feedback unit with sensors and the matching Gemue 1219 connector. The three do not exclude one another – many plants have both, optical locally and electrical in the control room.
Special versions and replacement
Besides the standard version there is the PSU transparent cap and versions cleaned for paint compatibility and sealed in film for painting and coating plants. The series is a typical wear and spare part: if a cap has gone cloudy or broken, the Gemue part number of the existing indicator is enough for us to supply the right replacement.
