Gemue 411 Manually operated butterfly valve
The Gemue 411 is a soft seated, centric butterfly valve made of stainless steel 1.4408 (investment casting) with a hand lever. It is the manually operated series among the Gemue butterfly valves and is designed for hygienic processes – beverage and food production, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology. We are an authorised specialist dealer for Gemue and stock 104 configured variants of this series.
Hand lever with locking device
The hand lever is ergonomically shaped and made of corrosion-resistant plastic. An integrated locking device secures the set position against accidental adjustment – in practice the decisive difference from a plain lever when the valve has to stay in an intermediate position. The rounded and polished disc edges are designed for frequent cycle duties.
Surface finish for hygienic processes
This is exactly where the 411 differs from an industrial valve: wetted surfaces are available mechanically polished to Ra ≤ 0.8 µm or electropolished to Ra ≤ 0.6 µm, blasted or likewise electropolished on the outside. A smooth surface gives deposits and biofilm less to hold on to and is the precondition for a robust cleaning validation.
Connection types and nominal sizes
The series covers DN 15 to DN 50 and can be configured with eleven different connection types: clamp to ASME BPE, spigots to EN 10357 series A and C, ASME BPE / DIN 11866 series C, and a threaded socket to DIN ISO 228. Three sealing materials are available: EPDM, FPM and PSI (silicone) – PSI above all where an FDA-compliant seal is required.
Configuration, advice and spare parts
Nominal size, connection type, sealing material and surface finish together make up the part number – hence 104 variants in this series alone. To replace an existing valve, the old Gemue part number is enough for us. If the same valve is to be operated pneumatically instead of by hand, the Gemue 415 is the matching series; in plastic instead of stainless steel it is the Gemue 410.
