For high switching frequency and high power ratings – 225 to 820 A at AC-3, switching gap in vacuum instead of air.

In the vacuum interrupter the arc is extinguished very quickly and contact erosion is low. Vacuum contactors therefore achieve many times the electrical service life of air-break contactors of the same rating and are suited to applications with constant switching, such as presses, cranes and large pumps. The 3RT12 range covers 225 to 500 A (110 to 250 kW at 400 V), the 3TF6 range continues with 630 and 820 A (335 and 450 kW).
