Connectivity
Between sensor and controller lies the connection, and in practice it is the most common source of failure: a cable that breaks in drag chain operation, a connector that draws water, a coding that does not match. We list 1,180 Turck items in six categories – field-wireable connectors, receptacles, splitters, boxes, bulk cable and accessories. The level sits under Turck control technology.
Pre-assembled or field-wireable
Pre-assembled cables are sealed and tested, but fixed in length. Field-wireable connectors are fitted on site to any length – with screw, insulation displacement or crimp connection. Combined with bulk cable this produces exactly the run the plant needs, and a damaged cable is repaired instead of completely replaced.
Through the wall and onto the distribution
Panel-mount receptacles carry the signal through the cabinet or machine wall, mounted from the front or the rear, with flying leads, solder or PCB contacts. Y and T splitters connect two sensors to one input or tap a cable without cutting it. Passive junction boxes bundle four to eight sensors onto one trunk cable and save the individual cables the run to the cabinet.
Sheath material decides the service life
PVC is inexpensive and sufficient in a dry, static environment. PUR withstands oil, coolant and drag chain operation – 331 of our cable items are PUR, 229 PVC. For food plants there are TPE sheaths, for welding areas weld-spatter-resistant versions and for moving axes cables with a verified number of bending cycles.
Number of pins, coding and protection
490 items are 4-pin, 187 5-pin, 104 4-pin plus PE. A-coding is the standard for sensors; deviating codings prevent signal and power being mixed up. 709 items carry M12 x 1, 86 the 7/8″ thread for power connections. Whatever else the connection needs – adapters, wall feed-throughs, protective caps, torque tool – is in the accessories.
What sits alongside
For the active side of the wiring we list Turck fieldbus technology with I/O modules in IP67 and IP20 and Turck interface technology with isolating switching amplifiers and power feed isolators. Around 40,000 Turck items can be sourced through the catalogue, including the complete cable programme with moulded-on connectors in every common length. The counterpart, the inductive sensors, sits one level further.
