The isolating switching amplifier sits between the sensor in the field and the controller in the cabinet. It supplies a NAMUR sensor or contact with intrinsically safe power, evaluates its signal and passes it on galvanically isolated to the controller – keeping the type of protection intact in the Ex area and the controller free from plant interference. The device monitors the supply line for wire break and short circuit, reports the fault acc. to NE 44 via a red LED and switches the output to the safe state. We list 98 versions with one, two or four channels and relay, transistor, push-pull or MOSFET outputs; 88 of them are approved for applications up to SIL 2 acc. to IEC 61508.
