Gemue 410 Pneumatically operated butterfly valve
The Gemue 410 is a centric, pneumatically operated butterfly valve with a valve body made of PVC-U. It is the plastic variant among the Gemue butterfly valves and belongs wherever stainless steel is either unnecessarily expensive or chemically at a disadvantage – in water treatment, in electroplating and pickling plants, or with acidic and alkaline media. Why plastic rather than stainless steel
PVC-U resists many acids, alkalis and salt solutions that make stainless steel react with pitting or stress corrosion cracking. Add to that the considerably lower weight – at DN 50 that makes a noticeable difference to the pipe support on a plastic line. The disc is made of PP, the body of grey PVC-U.
Nominal sizes, connections and sealing materials
The series covers DN 15 to DN 50. Connection is via union ends with insert: as a solvent cement socket to DIN or in inches to BS, as an Rp threaded socket or for IR butt welding. Two sealing materials are available: EPDM and FPM – EPDM for water, alkalis and many aqueous media, FPM for oils, fuels and oxidising media. Resistance is decided by the material combination, not by the valve type: if in doubt, send us the medium and the operating temperature and we will check it.
Actuator and control functions
Actuation is by pneumatic rotary actuators in ten sizes, from a piston diameter of 50 mm upwards. All three control functions are available: normally closed (NC), normally open (NO) and double acting (DA). At Gemue, NC and NO do not differ in the actuator part number but in its mounting position – the actuator is rotated by 90° during assembly. The shaft is a diagonal 8 mm square, so limit switch boxes and control heads can be mounted as well.
Configuration, advice and spare parts
Like every Gemue valve, the 410 is a configuration product: nominal size, connection type, sealing material, actuator size and control function together make up the part number. If you are replacing an existing valve, the old Gemue part number is enough for us to find the matching variant. If you need manual instead of pneumatic operation, the Gemue 411 is the stainless steel equivalent; the pneumatic stainless steel variant is the Gemue 415.
