Gemue Code 6 Butyl diaphragm
Gemue Code 6 is the butyl (IIR) diaphragm from Gemue. It is the wearing part of a diaphragm valve: it separates actuator and medium, seals against the valve body and is deformed with every switching cycle. We are an authorised Gemue dealer and stock 5 versions of this series.
Where this diaphragm is used
The diaphragm is fitted in Gemue diaphragm valves and is the part that gets replaced first during operation – the valve body and the pipework stay untouched. Replacing it is routine maintenance: remove the top works, change the diaphragm, refit the top works. Complete valves are in the diaphragm valves category, further wearing and spare parts in valve spare parts.
Material and range of use
Butyl rubber (IIR) has very low gas permeability and is resistant to many acids and alkalis. That makes it the material for gas and vacuum applications and wherever low permeation through the diaphragm is required.
Diaphragm sizes and selection
This series covers diaphragm sizes 65, 80, 100, 125, 200. The diaphragm size is the valve size and therefore the decisive selection criterion: it is part of the type code on the installed valve and has to match exactly. A diaphragm of the wrong size will not seal, even if it can be fitted.
Replacement and ordering
The decisive details for ordering are the diaphragm size and the material of the installed valve; both are part of the type code shown in the short description of every item and in the technical data. If you are unsure which diaphragm belongs in your valve, send us the type code or the item number of the valve and we will check it. Diaphragms are wearing parts – it pays to order a set for the next service at the same time.
